When Opportunity knocks, you should answer. This rang true as we received an email a few weeks ago from Nissan, personally inviting us to come to Europe to test drive the new 2017 Nissan GT-R. Wait for it...all expenses paid! This was an opportunity of a lifetime we just had to go.
As my alarm goes off on my iPhone, signaling me to get up...it reminds me again that I am leaving for Europe this morning. Not your average tourist trip to see the sights and taste the regional cuisine but instead, it was about to be a race against the clock to get to Europe to test drive the 2017 Nissan GT-R. The GT-R has been out for quite some time 2007 to be exact. The new 2017 model has been refreshed in every way, so mush so that you really can teach an old dog new tricks ;)
As we were all seated snug in our seat ready to take off for New York, where we would catch our connecting flight to Dusseldorf Germany, we read that our connecting flight was canceled! We notified Nissan, who let the Europe team know we were going to be late and would be racing to get to the event. After many terminal run arounds and missed flights, we finally got a flight on Air France to Paris that connected to Germany.
Since we had a layover in Paris, we just had to get the real deal Macaroons.
Once we got to Germany we rushed to meet up with the Nissan Europe reps and pick up our 2017 Nissan GT-R to cruise down the Autobahn into Belgium and onto Circuit De Spa Francorchamps.
Smiles for miles, driving down the Autobahn in a GT-R can do that to ya.
After the long journey we finally arrived!!!
No sleep in 24hrs, jet down the Autobahn to Spa, immediately grab a helmet and jump into the new GT-R with an instructor, race around Spa for a few laps then switch and have the instructor run a couple hot laps, then come out and take a selfie after all the mayhem lol
Truly an amazing track and an amazing chance to drive at a world famous F1 track.
Our Villa where we relaxed after a long day.
On the menu was a mix of all sorts of Belgium food with some quite amazing Belgium beer to top it all off. This was extremely well deserved given our long and tiring adventure to get here but it was all well worth the wait =)
The same iconic R32 that won 1st at Spa back in the 90's.
The only 2017 Nismo GT-R currently in the world was on display for our viewing pleasure.
A quick presentation on the new 2017 GT-R.
More shots of the amazing 2017 Nismo GT-R.
our hotel for the night. Hotel De La Source. Located conveniently within a block radius of the track.
What lobby is complete without a car inside.
The next morning we were up early, grabbed an amazing breakfast at the hotel. Our GT-Rs were being prepped for our trek back to the airport to sadly fly back home. It was about time to leave this European Heaven.
We decided to take the scenic route that Nissan had planned which led us into the beautiful Belgium countryside as well as some really cool towns along the way.
A trip to Belgium isn't complete without a stop to get world famous Belgian Chocolate.
We stopped at a random bakery to grab some Belgium Chocolate and also to drool over the many hand crafted pastries we knew we couldn't take back with us =(
On our journey back we stumbled upon a long side road next to a forest, that created the most epic old world European backdrop you could have asked for and what better car to pose for you than the 2017 GT-R.
We then headed back on the Autobahn towards the airport. This trip was something non of us could ever imagine was possible but all this was able to come together thanks to our friends at Nissan who we are so very grateful they invited us on this unforgettable adventure to Europe. Until next time =)
